Emporia State tennis drops two duals in Arkadelphia, Ark. on Tuesday

Both the Emporia State men and women fell to separate opponents on Tuesday afternoon in Arkadelphia, Ark.  The Hornet women lost 4-1 to Henderson State while the ESU men dropped a 7-0 dual to Ouachita Baptist.

 

Emporia State's #1 doubles team of Karen Santiago and Alexia Desmet handed Henderson State's duo of Mulan Kamoe and Kristina Kozlova their first loss of the year 6-1 to start the dual.  The Reddies came back to win 6-4 at #3 doubles and then took a 6-3 win at #2 to claim the point.  Karen Santiago evened things up for the Hornets with a 7-5, 6-1 win at #3 singles.  The Reddies would retake the lead with a win at #6 singles then picked up a win at #4 to go up 3-1.  Kamoe, the 49th ranked player in the country, clinched the win for Henderson with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Angelina Gnezdilova at the #1 spot.

 

The ninth ranked Ouachita Baptist men shutout Emporia State 7-0. Jaden Tredway was able to go to a third set falling 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 at #5 for the Hornets.

 

Emporia State will be back in action this weekend. The women travel to St. Joseph, Mo. on St. Patrick's Day for an MIAA dual with Missouri Western. First serve on Friday, March 17 is set for 12:00 p.m.  The men will play host to Augustana on Saturday, March 18 in an MIAA North Division matchup. First serve from the Kossover Family Tennis Center is set for 11:00 a.m.
