Braden Ledford and Brandon Kidd Jr. of the Ottawa University men's wrestling team both had top-6 finishes on Saturday at the Younes Hospitality Open hosted by the University of Nebraska-Kearney. The Younes Hospitality featured 51 teams from the NAIA, NCAA, and NJCAA.
Ledford highlighted the day coming in fourth-place in the Amateur Division, going 5-2 on the day. Ledford won his first two matches before a loss to Western Wyoming's Cody Phelps in the Quarterfinal. Ledford went on to win three straight en route to the third-place match.
Kidd Jr. went 5-1 on the day, finishing in sixth-place. Kidd Jr. started off by winning his first three matches, including two by fall. He fell short in the quarterfinal against Pratt's Samajay Alboyd, but won his last two matches before reaching the maximum match count.
Justin Darter also had an impressive day, going 4-2 and reaching consolation round seven. Diago Hernandez had a winning 3-2 record on the day. Loyd Epperson and Bryce Mclaren also stayed over .500 in the tournament by finishing 3-2.
