Lilfe Enrichment topics for November: Plants and the Winter Blues; Kansas Courthourses

Life Enrichment to Feature Speakers from K-State Extension and a Presentation on Kansas Courthouses

Butler Community College’s Life Enrichment will host Calla Edwards, Bonnie Brewer and J. Harvey Koehn on Tuesday, Nov.1 at 9 a.m. in the Hubbard Welcome Center on the college’s El Dorado campus.

Edwards and Brewer, from the Butler County Extension office, will present “Winter Greens and Winter Blues." Houseplants have been rapidly growing in popularity over the last couple of years as people navigated their way through a global pandemic. Not only do houseplants add some beauty and joy to a house they also create an oasis of calm that can help fight seasonal depression.

Koehn will present “Kansas Courthouses.” His presentation will cover a selection of county courthouses across the state, including photos of the court houses’ external features and architecture, some of the courtrooms, some of their interior, what the county has chosen to showcase and some of the courthouse yard displays. This presentation is part two, part one was presented virtually during the pandemic.

Life Enrichment meets on the first Tuesday morning of the month during the school year. Area adults enjoy high-quality speakers and performers, along with a light breakfast and coffee during each regular meeting. Meetings take place in the Clifford/Stone Community Room at the Hubbard Welcome Center on the El Dorado campus. Meetings are open to everyone and there is no charge to attend. Regular attendees are encouraged to register so they receive monthly newsletters announcing the programs. New members are always welcome.
