Kansas City metro lag behind Nashville-Davidson-Murfreesboro-Franklin in 2019

The Kansas City metro area exported $7.6 billion in 2019, less than exports from Nashville-Davidson-Murfreesboro-Franklin in 2019, according to the International Trade Administration.

A study from the Brookings Institute found competition between areas within the United States increases exports, which in turn generates stronger sales and more jobs for American workers.

The Kansas City metro area consists of 10 counties.

The Nashville-Davidson-Murfreesboro-Franklin metro area comprises nine counties exporting $7.9 billion in 2019.

The metro area with the most exports was Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land with $129.7 billion exported.
