Braves Open 2023 KCAC Play in Leavenworth on Saturday

The Braves won their fourth straight, taking a 109-49 victory over Manhattan Christian College on Tuesday night in Wilson Field House. OU shot 46.2 percent from the floor, 31.7 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 100 percent from the free throw line.

Ottawa's 109 points set a new school record for points in a game. The Braves' 23 steals are tied for second in single game steals. Cierra Brown finished the game with eight steals, which ties her for fifth in the OU record book in single game steals.

OU is led in scoring (14.3), rebounding (10.8), and blocks (2.2) by Nicole Brown. Hailey Henry is Ottawa's leader in assists (2) and Cierra Brown leads the team in steals (1.6) per game.

The Braves are 3-4 on the road this season and 2-3 in road KCAC games. OU has won two straight road contests, defeating Oklahoma Wesleyan in Bartlesville, 71-65, and William Jewell 63-62.

In road games, Ottawa is averaging 64.6 points per game while opponents are scoring 63.6 points. OU is shooting 42.9 percent from the floor, 31.2 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 67.5 percent from the free throw line. Opponents are shooting 36.8 percent from the floor, 29.8 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 69.8 percent from the free throw line.

Ottawa has two players scoring in double figures in road games. Cierra Brown is shooting 56.3 percent from the floor and scoring 15.3 points per game. Nicole Brown is shooting 63.5 percent from the floor and averaging 12.7 points per game.

Saturday is the 56th meeting between Ottawa University and the University of Saint Mary. OU leads the series 46-9 and the Braves are on a three game winning streak against the Spires. The first meeting between the two teams happened on Nov. 12, 1994 in Wilson Field House. Ottawa won the game 95-33.

Ottawa won both meetings last season. The Braves took an 81-57 victory over USM in Wilson Field House on Nov. 23, 2021. It took three overtime periods on Jan. 19, 2022 but OU defeated the Spires 101-98 at the Ryan Sport Center.

OU is on a two game road winning streak against Saint Mary. The last time OU lost to the Spires in Leavenworth was on Nov. 29, 2019. Saint Mary won the game 60-56.

The Braves are averaging 71 points, 41.3 rebounds, and 13.5 assists per game. OU is shooting 43.3 percent from the floor, 31.5 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 74.6 percent from the free throw line.

Ottawa is ranked 47th in the NAIA in points (1,065), 39th in field goal percentage (.433), 18th in free throw percentage (.746), 15th in defensive rebounds per game (30.7), 17th in blocks per game (4.1), 23rd in points allowed per game (57.3), 8th in opponent field goal percentage (.328), 38th in opponent 3-pt field goal percentage (.256).

University of Saint Mary is 9-6 overall and 5-4 in the KCAC. The Spires are 3-2 in its last five games and enter Saturday's contest coming off a 74-65 win over Oklahoma Wesleyan University. USM is 5-3 at the Ryan Sport Center this season.

In USM's 74-65 victory over OKWU, the Spires held the Eagles to seven points in the first quarter and led 34-23 at the half. Saint Mary shot 48.3 percent from the floor, 31 percent from behind the 3-pt line (9-29), and 60 percent from the free throw line. Alanis Delgado led USM with 16 points. Tenea Sims had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Jerrica Johnson scored 13 points and Rebecca Gilpin came off the bench to score 11 points.

USM is averaging 73.3 points, 38.5 rebounds, and 12.2 assists per game. The Spires are shooting 41.7 percent from the floor, 30.3 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 73.4 percent from the free throw line.

The Spires are ranked 37th in the NAIA in points (1,100), 37th in 3-pt field goals made per game (7.7), 25th in 3-pt field goals attempted per game (25.3), 27th in free throw percentage (.734), and 38th in blocks per game (3.5).

Jerrica Johnson leads the Spires in scoring (14.6), Tenea Sims is the team's leader in rebounding (7.1), Daija Planas is USM's leader in assists (2.9), Mary Olson is the team's leader in blocks (1.3), and Planas leads the Spires in steals per game (1.6).
